What is the expected life span of a battery?
On average, the life span of a battery is 4 to 5 years. This may be shortened however by a number of factors:
- Repeated start-ups when it is very hot or cold.
- Many consecutive start-ups and stops (in cities for example).
- And conversely: long periods where you do not use your car.
When should you change your battery?
Batteries do not suddenly die. They first start to show some warning signs:
- The engine only starts after several attempts.
- The battery is flat after a few weeks of holiday.
- The voltage (checked using a multimeter) is too low.
- The terminals are oxidised.
