Did you know that too much wear on your tyres can mean failing a roadworthiness test?
The tread depth of your tyres must be at least 1.6 mm across the entire circumference and on the central band of the tread that forms three-quarters of the width of the tyre. Why?
Because worn tyres do not grip the road as well, which has negative effects: greater risk of flat tyres and aquaplaning, with the risk being even greater in the winter.

Other factors can also affect the state of your tyres:
- Age: over time, the rubber becomes more rigid and dry, resulting in small cracks in the sides of the tyre.
- Potholes, kerbs, etc.: these impacts can warp the tyre over time.

Inspection of the electronic valve
All new car tyres (since 2014) are required to be fitted with an electronic valve.
How do they work?
The valve sensor (TPMS) continuously measures the pressure of the tyre.
If the pressure drops significantly, the systems sends a signal to the on-board computer to inform the driver.
Monsieur Pneus also checks the state of this valve
- specific to each vehicle manufacturer
- when doing the check-up of your tyres, free of charge, and replaces it if necessary.
